Huei’s Garden opens Sunday for Shriners Hospital fundraiser

A magical garden in Davis will open its gates Sunday for a life-changing cause – and you’re invited.

Huei’s Garden, internationally known for its feng shui aesthetics and beauty, will welcome visitors Sunday, April 26, from noon to 4 p.m. Suggested donation is $25 with proceeds supporting the Shriners Hospitals for Children in Northern California, specifically its comprehensive Cerebral Palsy Program. In addition to a guided tour of the garden, light refreshments will be served. No advance registration is necessary.

Now more than 50 years old, Huei’s Garden is “an Asian-inspired oasis where nature, harmony and tranquility meet.” It’s been the lifelong passion of its creator, Huei Young.

“Much like Huei Young transformed an unremarkable Davis yard into an Asian garden oasis, Shriners Children’s Northern California transforms the lives of children with highly specialized healthcare,” say the hosts.

Young herself will be on hand to conduct the tours and answer questions about gardening and feng shui. She also created a public garden adjacent to her home along the Davis greenbelt.

“People have different ways of having fun, but my fun is creating something beautiful to share with the world,” Young says. “The city greenbelt garden has become famous, with local people bringing visiting friends from all over the world to enjoy it.”

Huei’s Garden is located at 234 Luz Place, Davis.
