‘Walk with Warren’ and appreciate winter beauty
Seasonal changes are all around us in the almost-winter garden – if you know where to look. It helps if you have a knowledgeable and pun-loving guide such as Warren Roberts.
Take a noontime midweek stroll through the gardens of the UC Davis Arboretum with Roberts, the arboretum’s superintendent emeritus. Set for noon Wednesday, Dec. 17, this tour will be dedicated to winter beauty and some unexpected bloomers. Admission is free and no reservations necessary.
“Get ready to immerse yourself in the vivid beauty of the UC Davis Arboretum as you embark on a midday adventure through gardens and collections with your guide Warren Roberts, superintendent emeritus,” say the hosts. “Renowned for his captivating storytelling and playful puns, Warren leads participants on an always-engaging exploration of the Arboretum’s seasonal highlights.”
Participants gather at the Shields Gazebo near Garrod Drive. From there, Roberts will lead the way to winter wonders.
“Whether you’re a seasoned plant enthusiast or simply eager to revel in the tranquility of nature, this experience promises to be both educational and delightful,” add the hosts. “This event is open to all and free of charge, encouraging everyone to come together and embrace the wonders of nature within the Arboretum’s picturesque grounds.”
Wear comfortable shoes and appropriate layers for this one-hour outdoor stroll.
Although Arboretum admission and this tour are free, midweek parking is not. Hourly parking can be found along Garrod Drive near the Gazebo for $2.75 via AggiePark on the AMP Park app. Other spaces in nearby Visitor Parking Lot 55 allow all-day parking with purchase of a $17 daily parking permit via AggiePark.
