Placer master gardeners host ‘Giving Day’ reception

You’re invited to a garden party for a good cause – the UC master gardeners of Placer County and their new Loomis Demonstration Garden.

On Thursday, May 15, the Placer master gardeners will host a reception in their demonstration garden at the Loomis Library. From 4 to 6 p.m., visitors can see how these local experts have created a growing resource that just keeps getting better.

“We warmly invite you to an afternoon in the garden to celebrate growth, connection, and the spirit of giving,” say the master gardeners. “Stroll through the blooming garden. Snap a fun pic at our photo booth. Enjoy live music, refreshments and giveaways. Meet our volunteers and see our passion in action.”

The reception is part of UC ANR “Giving Day,” a 24-hour fundraiser that starts at noon Thursday and concludes at noon Friday. With the theme, “Rooted in Learning, Flourishing through Giving,” this fund drive will help with further work on the Placer demonstration garden as well as other master gardener programs.

The UC Master Gardener Program is just one element of UC Agriculture and Natural Resources, which “connects the power of UC research in agriculture, natural resources, nutrition and youth development with local communities to improve the lives of all Californians.”

“Your generous support during the 24-hour online Giving Day will directly benefit UC Master Gardeners of Placer County, funding important local projects such as our Demonstration Garden, community outreach initiatives, school and community garden programs, and so much more!” say the master gardeners.

Admission is free to the reception, but donations will be gladly accepted.

Loomis Library and the demonstration garden are located at 6050 Library Drive, Loomis.
