The Secret Garden hosts ‘Succulent Extravaganza’

We can’t get enough succulents – and we’re not alone. Succulents are now one of the hottest nursery categories, particularly in California where these water-wise beauties are valued for their drought tolerance as well as their beauty.

This month has been packed with weekend events celebrating succulents (and cactuses, too). Here’s one more: The Secret Garden’s annual Succulent Extravaganza.

Set for Memorial Day weekend, May 24-26, this Elk Grove event is another chance to find fantastic plants at good prices.

Join us for our beloved Succulent Extravaganza, a three-day celebration of all things spiky, stylish, and low-maintenance!” say the hosts. “Whether you’re a seasoned cacti and succulent lover or just getting started, this event is packed with inspiration, education, and great deals.”

All succulents, cactuses and terra cotta pots will be discounted 15%. For this weekend, The Secret Garden – known for its excellent selection of succulents – brought in hundreds of plants in new, unusual and rare varieties, organized by their sun needs. (Many succulents prefer some shade.) Find something special to add to your collection.

Experts will be on hand throughout the weekend to answer questions and make suggestions. Find out how to turn a handful of plants into a living succulent arrangement that can serve as a centerpiece all summer (or longer).

Learn with us! We’ll have helpful info for beginners to get started with succulent care and arranging,” say the hosts. “Get inspired by our beautiful, creative succulent arrangements throughout the nursery.”

Hungry while plant shopping? Late Mouse Coffee Cart will be on site, serving beverages and pastries, on Saturday and Sunday.

The Secret Garden will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. all three days. Admission and parking are free.

The Secret Garden is located at 8450 W. Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove.
