All ages invited to this Pollinator Party
Thursday, Aug. 7, find out farms will host a free Pollinator Party for all ages at Belle Cooledge Library in South Land Park.
Starting at 2 p.m., this hands-on experience aims to spread the joy (and pollen) of native wildflowers into suburban Sacramento neighborhoods.
“Come make seed bombs with California native wildflower seeds!” say the organizers. “Join in on a flower safari! Paint with soil! Everyone is welcome.”
Matthew and Tessa Ampersand are the founders of Oak Park-based find out farms, a unique urban ag initiative focused on promoting food sovereignty, ecological stewardship and community education. They’re also the experts behind Pollinator Gardenworks, which specializes in the creation and maintenance of eco-friendly gardens.
Thursday’s Pollinator Party is a natural garden activity for little gardeners as well as adults.
“This program is aimed at our intergenerational audience,” said Matthew Ampersand in the farms’ newsletter. “We believe that young people and adults do well learning side by side one another. Come with a young person and make some seed bombs and learn about pollinators!”
Bring the kids or grandkids. No reservations necessary; admission and parking are free.
Belle Cooledge Library is located at 5600 South Land Park Drive, Sacramento.
