Learn all about seed packets in online chat Saturday
Great, you’ve bought seeds for a garden this year! Now what? What does all that information on the back of the seed packet mean, anyway? And what is pertinent for Sacramento Valley gardens?
The Yolo County master gardeners aim to answer those questions and more during February’s Kitchen Garden Chat, to be held on Zoom this Saturday, Feb. 7, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Master gardener Treva Valentine will discuss how to read seed packets, as well as understanding frost dates and determining seed viability of stored seeds.
Kitchen Garden Chats, held the first Saturday of each month, are free and open to anyone who wants to get more to eat from their garden throughout the year. No registration is required.
During each chat, she will cover what kitchen gardeners should be planting, what they should be harvesting, what pests they should expect, how to deal with them, and what chores belong on gardening to-do lists. Questions about edibles are welcome and encouraged.

Meanwhile, gardeners who are out and around in West Sacramento this Saturday can stop by Lowe’s to get their garden questions answered. The Yolo master gardeners will be staffing their Question and Answer Table there from 10 a.m. to noon. Lowe’s is at 2250 Lake Washington Blvd, West Sacramento.
