This spring sale will add flower power to your great indoors
While summer flowers are popping out all over, it’s time to turn out attention to some indoor bloomers: African violets.
On Saturday, May 30, find a huge selection of African violets and their close cousins, gesneriads, during the annual Spring Sale hosted by the Delta Gesneriad and African Violet Society at the Shepard Garden and Arts Center in McKinley Park.
This sale is short but loaded. Open to the public from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, this event features hundreds of plants in many hard-to-find varieties not available in local nurseries. Get there early for the best selection.
In addition to the African violets, the sale also will feature episica, streptocarpus and other indoor flowering plants to add to your indoor jungle. Potting supplies will be available, too.
This event is always a wonderful spot to get advice about growing African violets, a longtime favorite houseplant. Society members can show how to replant an overgrown plant and other care tips.
Shepard Center is located at 3330 McKinley Blvd., Sacramento.
