Start fall gardening prep with this workshop
Gardeners learn to work on a different calendar. January makes us think of summer, and we start seeds for those luscious tomaotes. And now that the tomatoes are coming in, we must turn our thoughts to fall.
The Placer County master gardeners aim to help with that transition. This Saturday, July 12, they will present a free workshop, “Fall is the New Spring” at the Loomis Library. The workshop runs from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
“Did you know that you need to plant your fall/winter veg in July and August, so that they get established while the weather is still warm?” say the master gardeners.
The class will include some hands-on activity, planting seeds for cool-season vegetables in containers to take home.
The workshop takes place during the regular second Saturday Open Garden at the master gardeners’ demonstration garden on the grounds of the library. They staff the garden from 10 a.m. to noon, and welcome visitors who wish to view the plants and ask gardening advice.
The library is at 6050 Library Drive in Loomis. For more information, go to https://ucanr.edu/site/uc-master-gardeners-placer-county/event/fall-new-spring-fall-gardening-loomis-library
