SacValley CNPS hosts fall native plant sale

Fall is for planting California natives, and one of the best places to find natives perfect for our area is the Sac Valley CNPS Nursery and Gardens at Soil Born Farms on the American River Parkway.

This weekend, the nursery will hold its fall sale in two parts – order online, then schedule a pick-up time.

The online ordering window is open 8 a.m. Sunday to 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21-22. Pickup days will be 10 a.m to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept 28; 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Sept. 29; and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5.

The pickup site is the nursery location, 2140 Chase Drive, Rancho Cordova, tucked into the Soil Born Farms site. That’s also the home of excellent demonstration gardens featuring many of the native plants available in the sale.

Among the featured natives are five sages, several oaks and manzanitas, asters, California fuchsias and lilacs and such interesting plants as California buckeye, Dutchman’s pipe and bush anemone.
