Sacred Heart Holiday Home Tour returns to Fabulous Forties
It’s time to put on your walking shoes and get into the holiday spirit, Sacramento style.
A beloved tradition returns this weekend as five amazing (and fully decorated) homes in the Fabulous Forties greet visitors – all for a good cause.
Friday through Sunday, Dec. 5-7, the 52nd annual Sacred Heart Parish School Holiday Home Tour returns to its East Sacramento neighborhood.
“Every December, the tree-lined streets of East Sacramento’s Fabulous Forties come alive with holiday cheer – and the Sacred Heart Holiday Home Tour has been at the heart of it since 1973,” say the organizers. “”What began as a Sacred Heart Parish School fundraiser has grown into a cherished Sacramento tradition, welcoming thousands of guests to experience the magic of the season together.”
This year’s tour features five elegantly decorated homes. (Some homes also feature decorated vehicles outdoors.) Proceeds from the tour support school programs and help offset tuition to students in need of assistance.
Ranging from 38th to 46th streets, the featured homes are all within easy walking distance of each other and patrons can tour them in any order. Free parking is available at Sacred Heart School on 39th Street between H and J Streets.
“In addition to touring the homes, the school also hosts a Cafe and Holiday Boutique,” say the organizers. “These are free to visit – no ticket needed. The Cafe has sandwiches, soup, freshly made treats, festive drinks, and a champagne bar, while the boutique hosts over 25 local makers.”

Tickets are on sale for $40 online; seniors (age 65 and up), $35. After Thursday, Dec. 4, tickets are $45 ($40 seniors) and must be purchased in person at Sacred Heart School.
Tour times are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7. Tickets are required for ages 3 years and up. Tickets purchased online may be used any of the three days, but admit each person just once to each house.
