Master gardeners offer rose pruning workshop
Time to sharpen up your shears! Pruning season is here.
Out of practice? Learn the ins and outs of pruning roses during a free hands-on workshop at Woodland Community College, hosted by the Yolo County master gardeners.
Set for 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, this two-hour rose pruning workshop will tackle bushes on campus. It’s open to volunteers of all ages and experience levels. Dress warmly, wear sturdy shoes and long sleeves. Wear thick gloves (preferably leather) and bring bypass pruners (the best kind for pruning roses).
“Join UC Master Gardeners of Yolo County and bring your favorite pruners for this free hands-on class for new and experienced gardeners alike,” say the master gardeners. “You’ll learn pruning tips, have a chance to ask questions about rose cultivation, and help to maintain and beautify Woodland Community College’s rose garden.”
Woodland College is located at 2300 E. Gibson Road, Woodland. Meet at the rose garden. No advance registration is necessary. Questions? Email coordinator Jennifer Baumbach at jmbaumbach@ucanr.edu.
