Learn, explore, celebrate at Sacramento Earth Day
This Sunday, April 26, Sacramento-area gardeners and indeed all lovers of the Earth can celebrate Sacramento Earth Day, a free, family-friendly event at Southside Park.
Hosted by ECOS, the Environmental Council of Sacramento, the event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the park, 700 T St., Sacramento.
In honor of the Water Forum Agreement 2050, this year’s theme is “Water We Waiting for?”
“Sacramento Earth Day offers us an opportunity to better understand the value of our water supply and the need for a balance between water for humans and the natural environment,” organizers say.
“Sacramento Earth Day is more than just an event—it’s a vibrant educational experience for our entire community,” they note. “Each year, we come together to explore the impact humans have on our environment and discover practical actions we can take to protect our planet. Through interactive exhibits, engaging workshops, and meaningful conversations, we empower individuals and organizations to build relationships, share knowledge, and strengthen sustainability practices.
“Join us as we learn, connect, and take steps toward a greener, healthier future for Sacramento and beyond.”
The Earth Day program includes live music all day, a variety of food and drink vendors (featuring plant-based ingredients), and dozens of exhibitors and vendors.
Those of particular interest to gardeners include the UC Master Gardeners of Sacramento County, Be Water Smart (Regional Water Authority), Sacramento Splash, Miridae Mobile Nursery, ReSoil Sacramento, and the Sacramento Valley chapter of the California Native Plant Society.
The Sacramento Area Bicycle Advocates (SABA) will provide free bike valet parking at the event.
