Succulents, cacti in spotlight for huge three-day event
Got succulents? Want more? Then, this is the event for you – a show and sale so big that it covers three days.
Friday through Sunday, May 1-3, the Sacramento Cactus and Succulent Society hosts its 66th annual show and sale at Shepard Garden and Arts Center in McKinley Park. Admission and parking are free.
“This is the biggest succulent event of its kind in the Sacramento area,” say the organizers. “Don’t miss it!”
This show features amazing cactus and succulent specimens on display including many unusual varieties. But it’s the sale – with hundreds of collectible plants from several top vendors – that really draws a crowd. Arrive early for best selection.
Also offered for sale will be hundreds of hand-crafted pots and succulent-friendly containers – many of them one of a kind. Last year, 15 plant vendors and nine potters took part, and more are expected this week.
“We’re hosting over 24 expert vendors, bringing an incredible selection of rare cacti and succulents that you won’t find at a typical nursery,” says the club. “You can also shop unique, handmade pieces from local potters to find the perfect home for your new plants. Plus, an exhibition of stunning specimens grown by our members.”
Hours are 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Shepard Center is located at 3330 McKinley Blvd., Sacramento, in the north panhandle of McKinley Park.
