Church rose garden hosts special tour

Think of it as a belated Mother’s Day outing in a rose garden dedicated to motherhood.

On Saturday, May 16, the public is invited to tour Our Blessed Mother’s Rose Garden at St. Joseph Marello Catholic Church in Granite Bay. Admission is free with no advance reservations necessary.

“Learn about the history and the evolution of the garden,” say the hosts. “Enjoy the meandering paths, stroll through the arches, cross bridges and listen to the bubbling creek and song of birds.”

Master rosarians and the garden curator will be on hand to conduct informal tours and answer questions.

The garden will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The hosts suggest bringing a picnic lunch to enjoy in the garden, which features several shaded tables as well as lawn space for picnic baskets.

The church and garden are located at 7200 Folsom Auburn Road, Granite Bay.
