The Secret Garden to host ‘Small Business Saturday’ celebration

It’s almost Thanksgiving Week – which means Small Business Saturday is coming soon, too. Held on Nov. 29 this year (the Saturday after Turkey Day), it’s a chance to support the local small businesses you love.

Once again, The Secret Garden in Elk Grove has turned Small Business Saturday into a celebration of its customers. Now celebrating 24 years, the destination nursery and garden store will host a Small Business Saturday for the whole family, with activities for kids of all ages (parents and grandparents, too).

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, The Secret Garden will offer special holiday activities including a free Holiday Scavenger Hunt for children (with little treasures and clues hidden throughout the nursery) and a holiday ornament painting station (create your own keepsake for $5 each).

“Whether you’re picking out a Christmas tree, finding meaningful gifts, or simply soaking up the holiday cheer, shopping local at The Secret Garden is a whole lot more fun than scrolling online or wandering a big box store,” say the Khal family, the store owners. “Discover unique, locally made products, handcrafted gifts, and seasonal favorites that you won’t find anywhere else. Looking for a Christmas tree? At The Secret Garden, each tree comes with its own name tag. Spend $75 or more, and be entered in a raffle for a free Christmas tree. (Winner announced Nov. 30.)

“Our Christmas tree lot will be open and filled with fresh, high-altitude trees from the Pacific Northwest, including nobles and silvertips,” say the hosts. “Each tree comes with a fun, festive name tag – making the hunt for the perfect tree a family tradition you’ll look forward to every year.”

How to decorate that tree? The Secret Garden’s Holiday Shop is stocked with a wide selection of handmade ornaments – many of them inspired by gardeners (such as Plantie Santa with his itty-bitty trowel). Also find a huge assortment of gift ideas for gardeners and nature lovers.
