Learn how to create your own oasis garden
Can a garden save water and look lush, too? Definitely, say Cricket Riley and Alice Kitajima, co-authors of “Designing the Lush Dry Garden: Create a Climate-Resilient, Low-Water Paradise.”
Saturday, May 23, Riley and Kitajima will be the guest speakers at a special presentation, “Designing the Lush Dry Garden – Grow An Oasis with Less Water,” at Green Acres Nursery and Supply’s Elk Grove location.
Set for 10 a.m. to noon, the free event will include a live Q&A as well as book signing. The authors’ new book will be available for purchase. No advance reservations necessary.
“Learn how to create beautiful, vibrant landscapes that thrive with less water,” say the hosts. “Join celebrated dry-garden experts and co-authors Cricket Riley and Alice Kitajima for an inspiring morning focused on water-wise garden design, practical planting ideas, and sustainable California landscapes.”
Riley and Kitajima are well known for their work at the Ruth Bancroft Garden in Walnut Creek. Famous for its climate-appropriate plant selections, the Bancroft Garden was ranked “The Most Beautiful Garden in the World” by Tripadvisor.
“Dry gardens do not have to feel sparse or lifeless,” says Green Acres staff. “In this special Garden Talk, Cricket and Alice will share how thoughtful plant combinations, texture, structure, and seasonal interest can create gardens that feel lush while using less water. Drawing from years of experience designing and teaching at The Ruth Bancroft Garden, the pair will offer approachable ideas for home gardeners looking to build resilient, climate-conscious landscapes that still feel inviting and full of personality.”
See for yourself. Green Acres is located at 9220 E. Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove.
